ARROWS SENIOR CARE BY MAJESTIC RESIDENCES

ESSENTIAL CAREGIVER VISITATION POLICY

POLICY: As required by Florida law, ARROWS SENIOR CARE BY MAJESTIC RESIDENCES’ policy allows a Resident to have visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. at a minimum. At times there may be circumstances which restrict Resident visitation, such as pandemic flu or presence of infectious diseases which may require isolation. In such cases, ARROWS SENIOR CARE BY MAJESTIC RESIDENCES shall comply with all requirements by the CDC, the Florida Department of Health, and Florida Emergency Management.

Florida Statute 408.823 requires additional policies for resident visitation during these circumstances. The visitation policies and procedures required by this statute must allow in-person visitation by Essential Caregivers in all of the following circumstances, unless the resident, client, or patient objects:

1. End-of-life
2. A resident, client, or patient who was living with family before being admitted to the provider’s care is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support.
3. The resident, client, or patient is making one or more major medical
4. A resident, client, or patient is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died.
5. A resident, client, or patient needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously provided by a family member or caregiver.
6. A resident, client, or patient who used to talk and interact with others is seldom

PROCEDURE:

ARROWS SENIOR CARE BY MAJESTIC RESIDENCES requires the following procedures to comply with the statute. Before in-person visitation, all Essential Caregivers must adhere to the following procedures:

1. Comply with the Infection control and education policies for Infection Control policies may require a visitor to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including properly wear a face mask and other necessary PPE and perform hand hygiene. Staff will provide directions on the proper use of PPE. ONLY IF STAFF ARE ASLO REQURIED TO DO SO.
2. Policy Consent: Sign this policy acknowledging an understanding of visitation Failure to adhere to the policy may result in suspension of in-person visitation.
3. Submit to a Screening which may include temperatures and/or a questionnaire about health status. ONLY IF STAFF ARE ALSO REQURIED TO DO SO.
4. Visitation hours will be 8:00 m. to 10:00 p.m. for essential caregivers (two additional hours). Any visitation outside of those hours will be considered upon request to the Administrator. However, a request for additional vitiation hours in excess of the extended visitation will not be unreasonably refused.
5. While minimizing physical contact and social distancing may be encouraged to limit exposure, consensual physical contact between a resident, client, or patient and the visitor is NOT
6. A resident, client, or patient may designate a visitor who is a family member, friend, guardian, or other individual as an essential caregiver.
7. There may be times that a family may be having a gathering in area and there may be an unusual amount of guest in During this time we will make reasonable accommodations for family members to visit to ensure all family members may see their loved one prior to departing the area.
8. ARROWS SENIOR CARE BY MAJESTIC RESIDENCES does not require an essential caregiver to provide necessary care to a resident, client, or patient of a provider, and providers may not require an essential caregiver to provide such care.
9. Staff adherence to our visitation policies and procedures are overseen by our owner, Carol McIntire.

Arrows Senior Care Purpose

To establish clear guidelines for safe and compassionate visitation that balance therights of residents to receive visitors with the facility’s responsibility to maintain infection control and protect the health and safety of all residents, staff, and visitors. This policy complies with Florida Statute 408.823 (In-Person Visitation Rights) and Florida Administrative Code 59A-36.

Policy Statement

Arrows Senior Care recognizes that visits from family, friends, and other loved ones are vital to the emotional well-being and quality of life of our residents. The facility will ensure that visitation is allowed in all circumstances, including during public health emergencies, while maintaining reasonable infection control practices to safeguard residents and staff.

General Guidelines

1. Resident RightsEvery resident has the right to receive visitors of their choosing at anytime, subject to the resident’s preference, care needs, and safetyconsiderations.Residents may refuse visitation at any time.
2. Visitation HoursGeneral visitation is available daily from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.Compassionate care visits, end-of-life visits, or other specialcircumstances may occur outside of standard hours with prior approvalfrom administration.
3. Permissible VisitorsFamily members, friends, clergy, legal representatives, and essentialcaregivers are welcome.The number of visitors at one time may be limited based on space,resident needs, and infection control requirements.

Infection Control Procedures

1. Health ScreeningThe facility does not require visitors to have or show proof ofvaccinations or immunizations; however, we do reserve the right torequest visitors to adhere to the use of PPE and hand hygieneprocedure if necessary.All visitors must self-screen for symptoms of communicable illness (fever,cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, etc.) prior to entering thefacility.Visitors exhibiting symptoms of infection or recent exposure to contagiousillness may be asked to postpone their visit.

2. Hand HygieneVisitors must perform hand hygiene upon entering and leaving the facility,and before and after direct contact with a resident.Hand-sanitizer stations will be available throughout the facility.

3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Visitors may be required to wear masks or other PPE during public healthemergencies or when visiting a resident under transmission-basedprecautions.The facility will provide appropriate PPE when required.

4. Physical Contact and Social DistancingUnless contraindicated by the residents’ personal physician, there are norestrictions on visitors having contact with residents (such as hugs,holding hands etc.). Sexual behavior is not covered in this policy.Visitors are encouraged to follow staff guidance regarding safe physicalcontact, particularly when infection control precautions are in place.

5. Resident Care AreasVisits should occur in resident rooms, designated visitation areas, oroutdoors when appropriate.Visitors must not enter other residents’ rooms or restricted areas withoutstaff approval.

Visitor Education

• Visitors will receive written and/or verbal information on the following:Hand hygiene techniques.Use of PPE, when applicable.Facility infection control expectations during outbreaks or public healthemergencies.Respecting resident rights, privacy, and care needs.

• Educational materials will be posted in common areas and provided atadmission.

Documentation

• The facility will maintain a record of designated essential caregivers, if applicable.
• Sign-in logs will be maintained for infection control tracking and securitypurposes.

Enforcement

• This policy is subject to direction and oversight from the Florida Agency forHealth Care Administration, Florida Department of Health and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction in the event of an emergent event either site, community or state specific.
• This policy and procedure will be part of training for new employees as well as resident/resident representatives’ new admission orientation. The facilityAdministrator is responsible for ensuring that the facility staff operations arefollowing these policies and the ongoing training of staff to the policy.
• Visitors who do not comply with infection control measures may be asked toleave the premises to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
• Restrictions will not be imposed in a way that denies residents their visitationrights under Florida law, except as necessary to protect health and safety.
